NEW YORK, NY (December 22, 2020) – World Chase Tag USA (WCT) announced that December 23 rd has been designated “World Chase Tag Day Across the U.S.A.” to celebrate the inaugural season of WCT airing in the United States. Beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET this Wednesday, NBC Sports will present ten hours of WCT programming to promote the world’s most exciting physical pursuit competition on NBCSN.
The marathon runs from 3-7 p.m. and resumes from 9 p.m.-3 a.m. ET, and features the greatest parkour athletes from across the nation. The 2020 WORLD CHASE TAG USA Championships, from Atlanta, Georgia, is the biggest tournament in the history of the game and highlights the programming. The marathon is hosted by NBC Sports reporter and former Notre Dame wide receiver Corey Robinson.
WORLD CHASE TAG is the ultimate test of 1-on-1 pursuit, fought out on an unforgiving arena of steel & wood, between athletes displaying extraordinary speed & agility as they juke, leap & lunge to make a point saving tag. 16 teams from all across the country compete across group stages, playoffs & knockout finals culminating in an extraordinary battle to take home the inaugural WORLD CHASE TAG USA Championship trophy.
NBC Sports Group announced in September an agreement for exclusive U.S. media rights for the rapidly growing phenomenon of World Chase Tag. The competition premiered in the U.S. on NBCSN’s December 2019 broadcast of the World Chase Tag event held in London. Gray Television’s Tupelo Honey is the production company behind the inaugural season, and the first broadcast last December.
“We have been proud and delighted with the first season of World Chase Tag on NBC Sports Network,” said Christian Devaux, CEO of World Chase Tag. “’World Chase Tag Day Across the U.S.A.’ is a culmination of the hard work of so many people who love the sport. The support of NBC Sports, Tupelo Honey and sponsors such as Zaxby’s have made this first season so memorable and ensures that World Chase Tag will continue to grow.”
“World Chase Tag is filled with compelling, dramatic action in every pursuit,” said Gary Quinn, Vice President, Programming & Owned Properties for NBC Sports. “We are excited to present it all to viewers in the United States with a special ten-hour programming marathon.”
“NBC Sports has been so supportive of the launch of World Chase Tag to the U.S. audience in 2020,” said Cary Glotzer, CEO of Tupelo Honey. “This ten-hour block of programming during the holiday season will be compelling content for all demographics that showcase the best parkour athletes in the United States in this high-energy game.”
